Start with the current rulebook
Zimbabwe’s Carbon Trading (General) Regulations, 2025 are set out in Statutory Instrument 48 of 2025. The regulations establish the Zimbabwe Carbon Markets Authority (ZiCMA) and address the Zimbabwe Carbon Registry, eligibility to participate in carbon market activities, registration, monitoring, reporting and verification, and credit issuance and recognition.
Those provisions describe a national framework. They do not establish that any particular project has completed each step. The GreenLeaf investment packet refers to planned activity and carbon-credit assumptions; readers should confirm the current status of the specific project and fund with the Fund Manager.
Separate a project plan from a verified credit
A cookstove programme may involve household selection, stove delivery, installation support, usage monitoring, fuel-savings calculations, independent verification and registry processes. The applicable method and approval route depend on project-specific facts and the rules in force. A stove count or modelled reduction is not itself a credit issuance record.
The regulations include provisions on project registration, monitoring and reporting, verification, credit issuance and recognition. Ask which project entity is registered, what methodology and crediting standard apply, what monitoring period is covered, and whether credits have actually been issued or recognised.
Check the commercial and community terms
The legal treatment of credits, government deductions, community benefits, international transfers and project costs can affect the proceeds available to a fund. Read the applicable regulations and final offer documents together. Do not assume a modelled percentage or price is a fixed amount that will be realised.
For GreenLeaf, request the current approved prospectus, project registration evidence, monitoring and verification documents, registry information, and an explanation of the deductions and community safeguards used in the financial model. The investment packet and website are explanatory materials, not a substitute for legal or investment advice.
